The Qatar Aambal Tamil Sangam, in association with ITC Junction – Integral Training Centre, celebrated the 70th Day of the 100-Day Kannadasan Centenary Birthday Celebrations with a special literary programme featuring a vibrant Kavi Arangam (Poetry Forum) and Paattu Arangam (Song Forum).
The programme was organised as part of the landmark initiative:
“100 Colleges • 100 Professors • 100 Days”
The 100-day celebration is envisioned as a sustained tribute to the legendary Tamil poet and lyricist Kavignar Kannadasan, bringing together the academic and Tamil literary communities to celebrate his contribution to Tamil language, poetry, literature and popular culture.
A Celebration of Poetry and Music
The Day 70 programme provided an engaging platform for professors, Tamil scholars, poets and literary enthusiasts to express their creativity through poetry and songs inspired by the works and legacy of Kannadasan.
The Kavi Arangam showcased the participants’ poetic talent and literary expression, while the Paattu Arangam brought the emotional and musical dimensions of Kannadasan’s works to life.
The enthusiastic participation of academics and Tamil enthusiasts made the 70th-day celebration a memorable milestone in the 100-day programme.
“Aasu Kavi” Award Presented
As a special mark of appreciation, participants who distinguished themselves through their enthusiastic literary participation and creative contribution were honoured with the prestigious “Aasu Kavi Award” by Qatar Aambal Tamil Sangam.
The award recognises spontaneous and creative poetic expression and aims to encourage professors, scholars and Tamil enthusiasts to actively participate in the preservation, promotion and contemporary development of Tamil literature.

Continuing the Kannadasan Centenary Mission
The “100 Colleges • 100 Professors • 100 Days” initiative seeks to create a meaningful academic and cultural movement around the centenary celebrations of Kannadasan, encouraging professors and institutions to become active ambassadors of Tamil language and literature.
Through programmes such as poetry forums, song forums, literary discussions and academic participation, the initiative aims to connect the younger generation with the richness of Tamil literary heritage while giving contemporary Tamil scholars a platform for creative expression.
The Qatar Aambal Tamil Sangam and ITC Junction – Integral Training Centre expressed their gratitude to all professors, scholars, poets, participants and supporters who contributed to the success of the 70th-day programme.
