General Feedback on “10 Professors – 10 Speeches”

The “10 Professors – 10 Speeches” event, organised as part of the 100 Days – 100 World Records initiative of the Kannadasan Centenary, is a highly appreciable effort in which ten professors have shared their thoughts from ten different perspectives.
The topics covered a wide range of meaningful dimensions — from leadership to business ethics, education to professional integrity, success to wisdom. Each professor has explored the given theme through a distinctive line of thought, demonstrating that the same central idea can generate multiple perspectives when viewed through different experiences and voices.
One of the most commendable aspects of this initiative is the challenge of expressing a meaningful idea within the short format of a one-page speech. Communicating a complete thought within a limited space requires clarity, discipline and the ability to identify the essence of a subject.
One Concept – Ten Voices
The conceptualisation and selection of socially relevant themes by Mr. Ravi Govindaraj, Founder of ITC Junction, provided the foundation for this initiative. The ten professors then interpreted and presented these ideas in their own voices and styles.

Although the core concept may be common, each speaker’s individuality becomes visible through the way the idea is understood, absorbed and expressed.
Importance of Pronunciation and Presentation
Another important aspect that deserves attention is pronunciation and presentation style.
The impact of a speech can be significantly enhanced through:
- Clear pronunciation of Tamil words
- Appropriate emphasis on important words
- Short pauses after key ideas
- Effective modulation of voice
- Natural and confident delivery
- Meaningful engagement with the audience
In some speeches, the presentation could have been even more effective if the speakers had moved beyond simply reading the prepared text and delivered the ideas more naturally after fully internalising the message.
Adding Examples and Life Experiences
Some speeches could have become even more powerful by including relevant life experiences, specific examples, an impactful opening or a memorable conclusion.
However, these are areas for further improvement rather than weaknesses that overshadow the overall quality of the programme. The most important strength remains the individuality of thought demonstrated by each professor.
Additional Content Must Strengthen the Theme
When a speaker goes beyond the given content, the additional ideas should remain directly connected to the central theme.
Relevant additional points can strengthen and enrich a speech. However, unrelated information may dilute the impact of the core message.
Therefore, an important principle for every speaker is:
“Additional content should expand the speech; unrelated content should not distract from it.”
A Learning Experience in Public Speaking
This initiative is not merely about sharing knowledge. It also provides a valuable learning experience in how a good idea can be communicated effectively.
A strong speech requires more than good content.
The idea should be meaningful.
The voice should be clear.
The delivery should be engaging.
The additional points should be relevant.
The overall presentation should make the audience think.
Only then does a speech become a memorable experience.

My appreciation to Mr. Ravi Govindaraj, Founder of ITC Junction, for conceptualising this initiative, selecting socially relevant themes and creating an opportunity for professors to express their perspectives.
My heartfelt congratulations to all ten professors who have taken up the challenge and presented the concepts through their own voices, perspectives and presentation styles.
The greatest achievement of this event is that it demonstrates how one idea can take different forms through different minds and different voices.

“ஒரு கருத்து – பல குரல்கள் – பல பார்வைகள் – ஒரே நோக்கம்: சிந்தனையைத் தூண்டி மாற்றத்தை உருவாக்குவது.”
கண்ணதாசன் நூறுநாள் – நூறு உலக சாதனைகள் என்ற முயற்சியின் ஒரு பகுதியாக நடைபெற்ற “பத்து பேராசிரியர்கள் – பத்து உரைகள்” நிகழ்வு, ஒரே சிந்தனைக் கருத்தாக்கத்தைப் பல்வேறு கோணங்களில் சிந்தித்து, தங்களுக்கே உரிய குரல், மொழிநடை மற்றும் வழங்கல் முறையில் வெளிப்படுத்திய சிறப்பான முயற்சியாக அமைந்துள்ளது.
தலைமைத்துவம் முதல் வணிக நெறிமுறை வரை, கல்வி முதல் தொழில் நேர்மை வரை, வெற்றி முதல் ஞானம் வரை — ஒவ்வொரு பேராசிரியரும் தனித்துவமான சிந்தனைப் பாதையை முன்வைத்துள்ளனர். ஒரே கருத்தை அப்படியே மீண்டும் கூறாமல், தங்களுடைய பார்வை, அனுபவம், மொழிநடை மற்றும் குரல் வெளிப்பாடு மூலம் அதை அணுகியிருப்பது இந்த நிகழ்வின் மிகப்பெரிய பலமாகும்.
குறிப்பாக, ஒரு பக்க உரை என்ற குறுகிய வடிவத்திற்குள் ஒரு முழுமையான கருத்தைச் சொல்ல வேண்டிய சவாலை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டிருப்பதே ஒரு தனித்திறமை. குறைந்த நேரத்திலும் குறைந்த சொற்களிலும் மையக் கருத்தைத் தெளிவாகச் சொல்லும் திறன் ஒவ்வொரு பேச்சாளருக்கும் ஒரு முக்கியமான கற்றல் அனுபவமாக அமைந்துள்ளது.

ஒரு விதை ஒரே மாதிரியாக இருந்தாலும், அது பல்வேறு நிலங்களில் பல்வேறு விதமாக வளரலாம். அதுபோல, ஒரே கருத்து பத்து பேராசிரியர்களின் குரல்களில் பத்து விதமான பார்வைகளாக வெளிப்பட்டிருப்பது இந்த முயற்சியின் தனிச்சிறப்பு.
வழங்கல் முறையின் முக்கியத்துவம்
இந்த நிகழ்வில் குறிப்பாக கவனிக்க வேண்டிய மற்றொரு முக்கிய அம்சம் உச்சரிப்பு மற்றும் வழங்கல் முறை.
ஒரு சிறந்த உரையின் தாக்கத்தை அதிகரிப்பதில்,
- தமிழ் சொற்களைத் தெளிவாக உச்சரித்தல்
- முக்கியமான வார்த்தைகளுக்கு உரிய அழுத்தம் கொடுத்தல்
- முக்கிய கருத்துகளுக்குப் பின்னர் சிறிய இடைவெளி வழங்குதல்
- குரலின் ஏற்ற இறக்கத்தைச் சரியாகப் பயன்படுத்துதல்
- இயல்பான குரல் வெளிப்பாட்டை உருவாக்குதல்
- கேட்பவருடன் தொடர்பை ஏற்படுத்துதல்

சில உரைகளில் வாசிப்பு முறையைத் தாண்டி, கருத்தை முழுமையாக உள்வாங்கி இயல்பாகப் பேசும் தன்மை இன்னும் அதிகமாக இருந்திருக்கலாம். அதேபோல், சில உரைகளில் வாழ்க்கை நிகழ்வுகள், குறிப்பிட்ட உதாரணங்கள், தாக்கமிக்க தொடக்கம் அல்லது வலுவான நிறைவு சேர்க்கப்பட்டிருந்தால் கருத்தின் தாக்கம் மேலும் உயர்ந்திருக்கும்.
கூடுதல் கருத்து – ஆனால் தொடர்புடையதாக இருக்க வேண்டும்
கொடுக்கப்பட்ட கருத்தைத் தாண்டி பேசும்போது, அந்தக் கூடுதல் கருத்து மையத் தலைப்புடன் நேரடியாகத் தொடர்புடையதாக இருக்க வேண்டும்.
தொடர்புடைய கூடுதல் கருத்துகள் ஒரு உரையை வலுப்படுத்தும். ஆனால் தலைப்புடன் தொடர்பில்லாத தகவல்கள் அதிகமாக இணைக்கப்பட்டால், மையக் கருத்தின் தாக்கம் குறைய வாய்ப்பு உள்ளது.
எனவே,
“கூடுதல் கருத்து உரையை விரிவுபடுத்த வேண்டும்; தொடர்பில்லாத கருத்து உரையைச் சிதறடிக்கக் கூடாது.”
என்பது ஒவ்வொரு பேச்சாளரும் கவனிக்க வேண்டிய முக்கியமான பாடமாகும்.
